Embrace the Power of Humility

Humility is the foundation of true strength. It allows us to grow, connect, and serve others with grace. (C.S. Lewis)

Living with Humility

Humility isn’t about thinking less of yourself; it’s about thinking of yourself less. It’s the ability to put others first, recognize your limitations, and embrace learning. When we choose humility, we create space for genuine connections, self-improvement, and the wisdom to lead with compassion.

The Power of Being Grounded

Humility allows us to grow by recognizing our limitations and valuing others. By embracing humility, we open ourselves to wisdom and connection.

Readings will be posted in July.

Join as one body with other Christians to pray the Litany of Humility every day, but especially in July when we purposefully focus on the virtue of Humility…

Make the Sign of the Cross.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Call on Jesus to hear you.

O Jesus! Meek and humble of heart, Hear me.

Ask Jesus to free you of the desire to exalt yourself. After every petition, respond Deliver me, Jesus.

From the desire of being loved,

From the desire of being esteemed,

From the desire of being extolled,

From the desire of being honored,

From the desire of being praised,

From the desire of being preferred to others,

From the desire of being consulted,

From the desire of being approved.

Ask Jesus to free you from lack of courage.  After every petition, respond “Deliver me, Jesus.”

From the fear of being humiliated,

From the fear of being despised,

From the fear of suffering rebukes,

From the fear of being calumniated,

From the fear of being forgotten,

From the fear of being ridiculed,

From the fear of being wronged,

From the fear of being suspected.

Ask Jesus to fill you with love for your neighbor.  After every petition, respond “Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.”

That I may unconditionally love others,

That I may give esteem to others,

That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease,

That I may choose others over myself,

That I may praise others and I go unnoticed,

That I may not prefer myself over others,

That I may become as holy as I should.

Conclude with the Sign of the Cross.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
