Why Diligence Matters
Diligence is the foundation of success, a virtue that empowers us to pursue our goals with focus and determination. When we are diligent, our lamps are always filled with oil and are lit so that we do not miss the opportunities God puts in front of us. It encourages consistency, builds resilience, and ensures that no effort goes to waste. By cultivating diligence, we develop the discipline to overcome challenges, the patience to see tasks through, and the drive to continually improve ourselves.
The Key to Achieving Greatness
The apostle Paul compares the Christian life to an athlete in training. There has never been a great athlete that was not diligent. Diligence inspires us to work hard and stay committed to our goals. By embracing diligence, we turn aspirations into accomplishments. For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we wake or sleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light. 9 I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.
10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?
13 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, that they may not believe and be saved. And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy; but these have no root, they believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. And as for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Litany of Diligence
Lord God, we humbly desire that you bless us with the virtue of Diligence. Let your word and spiritual diligence be a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.
When we are tempted to be dishonest or deceitful.
